Light painting a Frozen Barcelona Blue BMW
I photographed this stunning piece of German engineering a couple weeks ago, and I decided to write my first ever blog post on it. This was not my first time light painting a car, but it was my first time trying it on a frozen (matte) paint job. I am pretty pleased with the results. Strap in and stick with me as we take this delightful journey through my first blog.
My place of work was lucky enough to receive this awesome First Edition M850, and as soon as I saw it I know I needed to get some special shots of it. Since the car has a special paint job, we have to keep it inside most of the time. I decided to take a crack at light painting it, and i think it shows off the car nicely!
If you can’t tell, I really enjoy the back of this car. The sleek taillights and bold lines really pull me in.
After doing a few photos of the exterior, it was time to get one solid interior shot. Building up a nice interior photo can be difficult, but if you get it right, then it can be very rewarding. With this model of the BMW 850i, it was the coupe and not convertible, so I had to stick with lighting through the windows. This proved to be hard, but led to creating some nice shadows on the inside. The glow of the blue accent lighting really came out in this as well.
Well… I think that about does it. I plan to keep doing these and getting better, so stick with me here. I hope you enjoyed this post, and you will be seeing me again soon.
Thank you to Autohaus BMW in Maplewood, MO for being a rad place to work. If you ever need a BMW and are in the Southern Illinois / Missouri area, I would highly recommend them.
